We were very pleased to host the screening of ‘Sickle’ in Ipswich at the University of
Suffolk. We want to thank The Red Cell Network’s Stuart McGunnigle the Network
manager for making this happen.
A BIG thank you to Dr Martin Besser Consultant Haematalogist, Stephanie George -
co star of Sickle and patient advocate, and Toks Odesanmi patient link advocacy
worker for being a part of our expert panel.
SICKLE is a powerful and impactful docuFILM delving into the lives of those living
with sickle cell. A big thank you to Smila, The Red Cell Network and Black Thrive
Haringey for making this. There were a lot of questions from the audience, which
highlighted the discriminatory nature of management of this condition.
People attended from our hometown Ipswich and the surrounding areas, and as far
as Slough, Chelmsford, London and Hitchin.
Thank you to our audience for attending and participating, to Cherise for singing,
‘Rise Up,’ so beautifully and to Ashwell for sharing his experience of being a
blood donor.
Thank you to Elaine our amazing & dedicated coordinator, and to our hard-working
volunteers
